Ten Day Amritsar Da Swaad Food Festival Begins At Courtyard Marriott, Bhopal

A 10 day long culinary festival of flavourful and authentic Amritsari food – Amritsar Da Swad- commenced today at Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal. The Festival is being held at Hotel’s fine dining restaurant BayLeaf during 7.30 to 11 pm.

Guest Chef Kashish Sharma, a native of Amritsar and chef at Courtyard Marriott, Amritsar, will give city’s diners the wholesome flavour of the culinary landscape of Amritsar, as he prepares traditional favourites using the most authentic cooking techniques and highest-quality ingredients. The menu which is hand crafted by Chef Kashish is a profusion of sensual delights, of tastes, textures, sensations and aromas, some familiar, some not-so.

Ravish Mishra, Executive Chef, Courtyard by Marriott, Bhopal informed this at a press conference organized here on Friday. He said “Food isn’t just food in Punjab, it is an unrivalled reflection of the history, culture and lifestyle of a robust land with an agrarian legacy going back to the Indus Valley Civilization. If we talk about Amritsari Cuisine it is one of the most distinct and popular Indian cuisines and comes from the region of Punjab situated partially in India and Pakistan”.

Chef Kashish said Amritsari food is characterized by its robust nature, soulful taste, extrovert flavours, simple cooking techniques, and heritage cooking. He said “In a city that has lent its name to iconic dishes, from Amritsari kulchas to Amritsari fish, and Amritsari lassi , we have selected few jewels from the large array of delicacies like Khade masala ki boti, pindi chholey, mogey ka paneer tikka, Amritsari murg, Bhatti ka murg, matka murgi, aloo vadiya, keema chowl, kulfa, kharode ka Shorba, pinni  and many more”.

At the end of main course one can enjoy desserts like Atte Gond ka halwa, jalebi and kulfaa.
